Investing in People — How Our Training & Development Program Makes Candidates Site-Ready

In the world of industrial work, one thing remains constant — good people are hard to find, but great people can be developed. At our organisation, we see this every day. Around 60% of the candidates who walk through our doors or call our office arrive with one powerful thing in common: the will and eagerness to learn and work.
That’s why we made a commitment years ago to invest directly into our workforce. We don’t just match candidates to jobs — we train, develop, and prepare them to be fully site-ready for our clients across temporary, ad-hoc, and permanent roles.

The Challenge

Many candidates show enormous potential but lack the formal qualifications needed to step onto industrial sites with confidence and compliance. Requirements such as Confined Spaces, Water Jetting (UHP), CCNSG, EUSR, CSCS, and more often stand between good candidates and great opportunities.
Rather than let talent go to waste, we decided to remove that barrier.

Our Solution: A Dedicated Training & Development Pathway

To support motivated individuals, we launched our own Training and Development Program — an investment in both skills and safety. Through a combination of accredited courses, hands-on training, and industry-certified instruction, we aim to turn raw potential into site-ready capability.
Recently, we partnered with one of our trusted training suppliers to deliver a specialist course:

Surface Preparation & Ultra-High Pressure (UHP) Water Jetting Training

This intensive program equipped six of our candidates with the competencies required to operate safely and effectively using ultra-high pressure water jetting equipment.

About the Training — Building Skills That Matter

Delivered over two days, the course blended theory, practical sessions, and a rigorous assessment. Candidates learned a comprehensive range of skills and safety knowledge essential for modern surface preparation environments.

Key learning outcomes included:

Surface Preparation & Jetting Fundamentals

  • Cleaning & surface preparation techniques
  • Jet cutting: precision and volume removal
  • Scope of surface cleaning applications
  • Range of suitable jetting machines

Health & Safety Excellence

  • Health & Safety at Work Act
  • WJA codes of practice
  • Safe systems of work
  • Monitoring of operation

Technical Knowledge

  • Jet principles
  • Types of nozzles
  • Pump configuration
  • Water supply & delivery features
  • Filtration requirements
  • Pressure safety release options
  • Auto engine speed control systems
  • Pump and dry shut controls

Equipment Mastery

  • Hose construction & pressure ratings
  • Hose end fittings & couplings
  • Damage & wear identification
  • Ancillary equipment selection
  • Base materials & contaminants
  • Setting up for operation

Practical Handling & Safety

  • Effects of impact from high-pressure jets
  • Routine care & inspection
  • Connectors and fittings
  • Boost feed pumps
  • Engine controls and instrumentation
By the end of the program, all six candidates successfully completed the assessment and are now fully trained, competent, and ready for deployment.

The Outcome — Six New Site-Ready Candidates

Thanks to this investment, we now have six highly motivated, newly qualified individuals available for our clients’ projects. Whether it’s temporary, ad-hoc, or long-term work, these candidates bring:
✔ Certified skills
✔ Proven safety understanding
✔ Hands-on practical competence
✔ The right attitude to perform and progress
This isn’t just training — it’s a long-term investment in people, industry standards, and workforce reliability.

Why We Do It

We believe talent should never go unused. When a candidate walks through our door with drive, passion, and eagerness to learn, we want to give them every chance to succeed. Our training programs:
  • Strengthen our talent pool
  • Support our clients with site-ready workers
  • Promote safety and compliance
  • Boost opportunities for individuals
